I had a similar situation. I had a 245 pounder.
I have now learned that that is the absolute maximum
that my wife & I could ever move on our own.
We used a tarp, and could only get it about 1/2 inch
off the ground. We scooted it out of the garden,
kind-of slid it across the grass, and then realized that we
could never lift it high enough into the back of the minivan
(and this is the evening before weighoff).
So we got some plywood, and made a ramp.
I pulled, and she pushed, and it went right in.
The video narration by my kids is quite hilarious.
Luckily, they used forklifts at the weighoff.

I drove it around for a few days pondering how to
get it back out without rolling somebody flat.
Then my mother had a brilliant idea- the wheelbarrow.
It was the same height as the bed of the van, and
I slid it right out.

Now I had another pumpkin still in the garden, at 240, which
with the help of the indispensible wheelbarrow and a couple
of my small kids, indeed managed to get out by ourselves.
First, I put the tarp under it with the help
of the kids. Then, I tipped the wheelbarrow
on its side, as close to the pumpkin that I could.
Then I got beside the wheelbarrow, reached over
it, and grabbed the tarp, just leaning back while
two kids pulled up on the lower wheelbarrow
handle. The pumpkin rolled right in and popped the wheelbarrow
upright. It was still a job to handle it (keeping it balanced), and
I kept the kids far away in case it fell off,
but it was *far* easier than lifting/dragging it like I
did with the other one.

-Be careful out there kids, pumpkins can HURT you! :-)
