Hey all-
I was just talking (e-mailing) with Gordon Tanner and we were discussing
the number of seeds in a pumpkin and factors that contribute to that.
This came up because my 684 lb. pumpkin had 579 seeds in it. It had 5 lobes but
i used only 1 male flower to pollenate it.
so:
1) I assume that more lobes means more seeds
2) That complete pollenation can occur with one male,
we all just like to use more to make sure...
3) individual pumpkin genetics has a lot to do with it
any thoughts ???
Scott, i'm back, armstrong
