Why pumpkins float

Things float because of buoyancy -- the same reason battleships float. I've
found a Website that may help (I felt guilty for my earlier, smartypants
answer).

Anyway, this site describes an experiment in floating a golf ball. It
probably describes the forces that hold up pumpkins, as well. You might
have to draw some conclusions.

I also think the air trapped in the cells and cavity of the pumpkin might
help the pumpkin float -- kinda like the air in our lungs.
