RE: Earthquake

Hello Beth,

We're still here.....and so are the pumpkins that hadn't already split in
the last few weeks. The sunflowers made it ok too, which is a surprise
since they are so heavy and propped up. We have some great sunflowers
this year which we will be taking to one of the weigh-offs.

Our property is on the East Side of the valley where there was minimal
damage. A few items fell from shelves and cupboards, nothing broke here.
The worst damage was when some 8+ foot boards fell on our 55 Chevy that
we just had painted this summer and is almost ready for show. Only the
trunk was damaged so it will just have to be done again after the dents are
out.

Loren works at Safeway and they had major damage which closed the store for
several hours. I heard the wine and liquor isles were about 2 feet deep
in bottles (many broken) and the smell was overwhelming. A large sheet of
glass (window) fell inside the doorway a moment after an employee and a
customer passed through on their way outside. Lots of stuff in the isles,
lots broken. Where I work at Prudential California Realty there were
papers tossed with computer equipment on the floor, drawers of files
opened, lights down and stuff like that. Some businesses had multiple
picture window panes broken and lights down. But Starbucks was open!!

I haven't spoken to George Webster yet. That is my next thing to do.
Many of our friends had pictures down and items on shelves tossed, TV
sets down and moved about 6 feet, etc. One transformer exploded and caught
a tree on fire. Your know, the usual Sunday morning wake-me-up for
California. (Just kidding)

Thanks for asking. I did check the pumpkins and they looked good.

Looking forward to hearing all our Napa folks are safe and sound after this
morning's earthquake...

C'mon folks, the only *earthshaking* news we wanted from you was of a
1,000-pounder or two!

Beth
