On 19 August I discovered a split in the blossom end of the pumpkin. Daily doses of fungicide were not enough to keep the fungus away. On Monday morning when I put on pumpkin TV (yes I have the camera connected to a TV in addition to the web page) I noticed some dark lines on the pumpkin. In the patch I found a soft spot on the side of the pumpkin. I decided it was impossible to keep it until weigh off so I pulled the scale into the patch and my son and I rolled the pumpkin onto the scale to get its final weight before it went into a freshly dug hole. When we cut it open we found the split had penetrated into the seed cavity. Most of the inside of the pumpkin was black yet still solid and firm. We didn't save any seeds because they were all black. Yes, some may have been ok but few people are interested in fungus covered
