How long can they continue to grow?
good questions - the answer of course is...
it varies and know one knows for sure
it depends on two factors...
genetics and environments (nature and nurture)
with many sub-factors...
unfortunately only the gods know...
btw: Hera and the gods are certainly upset with you
now...
you told us how big she is !!!
Hera: .414, two more inches or 16 pounds

of course these are all just estimates-
(and we all know her parents weighted light),
(and we have to believe you when you said-
16 lbs. with 2 inches growth),
but regardless, how could you be so foolish,
certainly the gods will punish you accordingly.

I looked at the c/ott for my three pumpkins and came
up with the following:
Athena: .418, Parent 937 Mombert, shape - high round
Aphodite: .434, Parent 947 Patrick, shape - barrel
Hera: .414, Parent 875 Dill, shape - very high round
Interestingly, Athena has the best looking shape, high
round, somewhat elongated, heavy ribbing. Hera is very
similar only the ribbing is not quite as deep and the
blossom end is sharply concave. Aphodite has the
poorest looking shape, barrel shaped but slightly
flattened with mild ribbing. To me - Aphodite is the
most likely to weigh light even though she has the
highest ratio.
I have a question for experienced growers - When do
pumpkins stop growing? Assuming that the weather
cooperates, no frost and the plant remains healthy.
How long will they continue to gain weight. I thought
it was about 60 to 70 days. My pumpkins are over 70
days old and are still going. Athena on day 74 gained
12 pounds, and Hera at day 73 put on two more inches
or 16 pounds and is just starting to show color, (a
salmon blush). They have definately slowed down but
are showing no signs of stopping.
How long can they continue to grow? It's 26 more days
until the weigh-off - can they continue to pack it on
90 or 100 days?
