Pumpkin life after vine?

Ok, my growing year is fastly coming to a end and even though I did not get
the kind of results I had anticipated I guess I cannot complain for my first
year. I ended up with one pumpkin at 75 lbs, one at 100 lbs and one at about
80 lbs that is still growing. My hundred pounder is still on the vine but is
no longer growing at all. The plant is still green as is the stem of the
pumpkin.
Should I go ahead and cut this one off or leave it as long as the vine is
still green? How long will the pumpkin last once it is cut off the vine. I
really want to have it for Halloween for my daughter. I am in Central
Virginia.
