Another bug question

I was noticing the other day that within the top six inches or so in
my garden that there were WHITE GRUBS (phyllophaga spp). Since they feed on
roots I was quite concerned. I am a SEMI-organic Gardner that means to ME
that I only use chemicals in fertilizer form which I use in addition to my
compost so (yes my pumpkins are fully edible). This poses a problem, What do
I use to kill the little buggers!!!! can anyone help me ???? I have
literally spent hundreds of dollars this year on red wigglier worms that I
added to my garden and I really do not want to harm them. THANK YOU IN
ADVANCE.
  Another Quick Question !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was watching a program a couple of years ago about Stern the inventor of
merricle grow. The show stated that he has broken world records (they showed
some totally amazing vegi's) but had been banned from allmost all
competitions due to what they called an """""UNFAIR ADVANTAGE"""""
Can any one tell me what that could mean?? I have been torturing myself for
years trying to figure that one out!! Please put me out of my misery
please..........

Fellow pumpkin grower and hopefully future friend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
