Rumors are abundant about possible world records,
depending on your sources, it seems like there are a few growers with possible
squash and pumpkins that are charting around new record weights. I cannot
say who or what is growing what or who I've talked to, as I am not a rumor
mill.
Since last year everyone learned about propagating
pumpkins too late to make any off of a plant with great genetics, I am making
this posting so those who want to keep a cutting alive until next year will
have enough time to do so, as there are 2, 3, maybe 4 weeks left to do so!
Privately E mail me if you or someone you know wants information about doing
this.
I am also encouraging those of you that know
growers without computers, please SPREAD THIS NEWS PLEASE! I would also consider
keeping whatever cuttings alive that I had room for, and 3 to
5 plants are all I have room for, so I can't handle all requests!
E-mail me and I'll discuss this with only seriously interested growers who have
something worthy, or know of someone that does but has no computer to write me.
I'll give you my phone number, or get a number to call, and explain anything
about doing this.
Last years 746 Scherber clone has already produced
three 500 plus pounder this year from cuttings I've kept alive since last year.
The best reason to have one growing the next year is for a male breeder for
whatever plant is meant to be your "featured"plant. Cuttings the are planted
early in the spring with the plants grown from seed have male flowers right away
opening, no having to wait for plants to spit out males and not having something
to pollinate the first open female flowers.
The time is getting short though to get on ready
in time before the frost hits, so spread this news quickly, before it is too
late.
