Orange AND Green???

Just curious........

I know that two seeds from the same pumpkin can grow different colored
fruit, but how common is it to get both orange and green on the same plant?
This year, on two of my plants, the primary pumpkins set back in early July
started off cream/yellow and matured to a nice medium orange. However, the
late season fruit that I let set and begin growing in early to mid August
have started off white and are definitely going green. I first thought
this might just be some sort of start up anomaly, but now that these new
ones are approaching the 150 and 200 pound marks, I'm beginning to wonder.
Not the first hint of orange and the green is spreading. Could it be the
Fert? Could it be the effects of different pollinators than the earlier
fruit? I'm at a loss to explain. All comments welcome.
