Re: Ottawa Weigh-off Details and Prize List

List,

I need some advice. I mailed earlier about the frost we received in
Colorado Springs this past weekend. I have since built a tarp system I use
at night and remove in the morning. Unfortunately, the first frost killed a
bunch of my pumpkin leaves. The good news is it looks like the pumpkins are
OK. Should I cut out the dead leaves (the black, drooping ones) or just
leave them alone? If I do cut them off, should I cut them at the top of the
stem or cut them close to the vine?

Also, does anyone have any fertilizer suggestions for these final few weeks
of growing? Does it help to increase the amount/frequency later in the
season? I've still got some small pumpkins I'd like to get a bit bigger for
Halloween.

Thanks for the help,
Mike
