Re: Rochester Fair

Hi List,

I have a question concerning seeds. This is my first year growing Atlantic
Giants and I purchased my seeds from Howard Dill's Atlantic Giants in Nova
Scotia via the internet. I was planning to use the seeds from this year's
pumpkins to grow some more next year. However, I was told yesterday that
seeds puchased commercially are somehow genetically altered to keep the
seeds from being fertile for subsequent plantings. Can anyone confirm or
deny this?

Also, I've seen some recent emails from this list talking about folks not
feeling like paying too much attention to their gardens in light of the
tragic events of last week. We all must grieve in our own ways, however, I
would encourage everyone to pay even MORE attention to whatever it is that
makes you happy--if you let these events alter your behavior in a negative
fashion the terrorists are winning. So tend to that freedom fertile
American soil that you all enjoy so much and grow those pumpkins bigger than
ever in a defiant stand that shows our spirit cannot be broken. GOD BLESS
AMERICA!

Thanks,
Mike in C. Springs
