Dan as far as I know if a pumpkin is weighed on official
scales and you have witnesses it would count as a world record no matter when
you weigh it.I think I would want my witnesses to be credible.Maybe site
coordinators or someone like that.Jerry

Subject: Oficial or unofficial?? that is
the question!!
List I don't post much anymore..mostly
choosing to just lurk and respond privately IF I think I can honestly
help........everyone has their opinions and there techniques......some I agree
with others I don't nec. think work or apply in all climates and
conditions......with that said I offer this... I say
if they grow it.....then they grew it........whether or not it was weighed on
a certain day really doesn't matter to me personally..BUT It should be show
quality..as in healthy no holes and such.........that is really the only
differences between Official and Unofficial...right....??
How about poor Tim In florida...he weighs in every year in florida way
way early right.....no show or nothing ..just a witness.....what if he pops a
huge fruit....I mean something larger then the current record.......would he
be Official or unofficial......?? remember back in the early
1990's when a well known grower in NY I do believe....cut and weighed in a
squash early because it was on it's way to being illegal....splitting or
cracked but not thru to the cavity.....Len something was his name I do
believe......it counted as a NEW WORLD RECORD SQUASH....nothing was said about
this..... what if someone had aWorld record
pumpkin and decided to take it early ...like this week..nothing wrong with the
fruit just that he wanted to make sure he did not lose it on the last
week....would he be allowed to weigh it in early nowadays like some have done
in the past and count it towards an official Worlds record...??
If not ...then..........When did the rules change or have they
changed..??
DanCarlson Ps.....everyone thinks October 6th or
nothing......or maybe I misinterpeted what Bill was asking......alot of
weigh-off are earlier.......all your state fairs are early...and the west
coast has some huge fruit weighed in later on the west coast..example being
Larues 1010 last year....you me to say this would not have counted either??
Isn't any of these contest OFFICIAL enough to count towards a
record??
