Pumpkin Season Is Over

Last night a light frost hit the patch and over 50% of my leaves were
killed. Another light frost is expected tonight, so the rest of the
leaves will be hit. The remainder of the week is supposed to be sunny
and nice, but it will be too late for more growth. Glad that we have our
weigh off the last Saturday in September in Austin, Minnesota, since we
always seem to have a light frost before October.

Plan to post the Austin, Minnesota, results this coming weekend. Have
not heard too much from the growers in this area this year, but I do
know of several pumpkins which will push 700 pounds. Anyone in the area
is welcome to the weigh off. The weigh off starts at 10 am. To get to
the weigh off, turn off the I-90 exit at 4th street and turn north. The
weigh off will be down a couple of blocks and on the left (west) side of
the road.
