Hey Vince,
Just curious..... what would happen if GE's split ribs close back in on
themselves and seal the split tight??? Sure, the pumpkin is still doomed,
however, with no "apparent" opening into the cavity, what would the
weighoff folks think? I'm sure there have been all sorts of heavily ribbed
pumpkins that were actually split through to the cavity but weighed as
sound fruit because there was no visible way to tell.

Many thanks to members of the list for helping me find a scale.
I have located a bonafied, certified digital scale, accurate to
plus or minus half a gnat's ass, and am having it delivered to
my house this weekend.
Since I have a scale, I've decided to sponsor an official
weigh-off!! The First Annual Los Altos Hills Weigh-off. This
will start 1 pm Sunday, Sept. 10, under the big tree in front
of my house and end soon after. Every one is welcome! -
especially those with strong backs.
Rules:
1. Pumpkins with split personalities are allowed!!
2. All duct tape must be removed prior to weigh-in.
3. Please keep kids and other foreign objects off the pumpkin
when it is on the scale.
4. Growers caught stuffing stuff into their pumpkin's
cracks will be shot!!!
5. Any pumpkin that weighs more than GE is disqualified.
6. All decisions by the judge (me) are final
and absolutely official.
If you would like to take a gander at GE or want to help lift,
please stop by. If you have a fruit you need weighed, truck it
on in. Just let me know you are coming at:
