Dear List,
My attempt to make a joke fell flat, and I apologize. We want a level
playing field for all competitors. We appreciate the sportsmanlike
demeanor of Bob Troy and all his hard work on behalf of pumpkin growers
everywhere as well as his sunny charming disposition. I had hoped that
Bill Van Iderstine, whom I also admire and cherish, would appreciate the
turn of phrase coming so soon after his rototilling comment. I was
wrong, and I've been wrong before. Please forgive.
