A pumpkin question

I know…why would I ask a pumpkin question on a list like this?  Well, actually, it is a generic squash question, but it relates to pumpkins as well.

 

Does anyone have any theories as to whether, after the fruit stops growing externally, any additional weight is added by leaving it on the vine.  Do you continue your fertilizer programs after the fruit has stopped growing?  I am curious how many fruit that weighed over the charts finished growing before they were weighed.  I leave all my fruit on the vine until the weigh-off I want to take them to, primarily to keep them from losing weight.
