“The GPC and IPGA
rules clearly state the pumpkin must be sound, healthy, and undamaged. Entries must
be free of rot, holes/cracks through to the cavity, chemical residue and
serious soft spots.”
Does the part of the rule stating-----"ENTRIES MUST
BE FREE OF ROT"---mean anything to anybody???????
How much simpler could a sentence
be??
Furthermore rot so far advanced that "1-2
gallons" of "rot water" flowed out when the AG rotted from the
inside out,not the other way,as is more common.
It doesn't matter that the final wall rupture
occurred in the normal course of handling at a weigh-off,that AG had been
rotting for quite a while to make that much "pumpkin soup" and the weakened
walls finally just gave up.
It doesn't matter how much work and dedication it
took to grow a great AG---this is just one of many red herrings thrown into
this mess.
These are just my personal comments,as a private
grower, on a matter that seems so straight forward and
clear.--AE
