RE: INDIANA STATE RECORD/ Integrity ?

I personally don’t have a problem with it being a state record. The way you have to look at it though in this context would be is it recognized in IPGA competition? Probably not, because their current rules at least have some language regarding the condition of the pumpkin. You mention “up to standard”, but again, if we are trying to qualify it for a state record, is their standard the same as yours? What is a silk purse in some circles may be a sow’s ear in others. Still has the same value to the owner; priceless.

Drew and Wayne,
Are you both willing to say that if the IPGA recognizes this that we are in no way sacrificing our integrity as a group?  This pumpkin was leaking while it was still on the scale.  Don't you think we should at least be concerned about this.  The reason it took us a few days was simple.  The board has not had an easy time with this decision.  We all like Tom but do not want to be seen as a group that will allow a pumpkin not up to standard be called a state record.
Does anyone on this list have a problem with it being a state record?  I am curious.

Brad
