Green versus Orange

I lke the color green. I like the color orange. But green to me an unripe
pumpkin. I don't care for green tomatoes. They aren't ripe yet. Some people eat
green tomatoes and love them. This is all about choice. But let me ask you
this. How many people would travel miles for a squash weighoff versus a pumpkin
weighoff? People love pumpkins. They are not attracted nearly as much to
squash. Pumpkins bring out emotion. Squash don't. Would a 1000 pound squash
bring as many smiles to faces as a 1000 pound pumpkin. Not. Pumpkins are crowd
pleasers. Squash just don't cut it. Ray Waterman knows this. His event is
called a Pumpkin Weighoff. I doubt you will ever see the word squash up in lights
at Ray's. Say what you will about Ray. He is a purist and, I think, proud of
it. For years he has been out there pushing pumpkins, not squash. Ray's
favorite color is for sure orange. Have you seen pictures of him in his orange
jacket? Correct me if I am wrong Ray. You green lovers and growers should get
off Ray.
