RE: I did Something stupid

To Brian from Seattle,Don't worry about cutting off your main vine.
Sure, it will slow your growth way down. It may even stop the growth,
but you don't have to worry about the pumpkin rotting. I have had fruit
mature and stop all growth by mid August. I simply cut the fruit off the
vine, and put it into my garage where temps were way about 100. Of
course, ideally you want to put your pumpkin in a cool place, but these
babies keep for a long time.

As you know, with AG's. Nothing is in concrete. It could be genetic
  it could
be fruit position in relation to the vine.
Maybe it's better to position the fruit blossom higher than the stem
  instead
of trying to raise the vine to accommodate the fruit?

Bob I tend to disagree......I have my vines held up by styrofoam to
  relieve
pressure and I still get splits...........I believe it can also be
  caused by
poor vine support, but not always....
