Re: pumpkins DIGEST V1 #366

Kakai Pumpkin Seeds are the ones to roast. They are the best, no outer
shell! We grow Kakai's. :)

David,

I am glad you've had a great year, here in Southeast Wisconsin we have had
one of the worst drought on record. Consequently, the cucumber beetles have
been horrible. All my vines got a virus. I may have a couple of pumpkins
that will be 500 lbs. The only thing that I have been proud of is some
watermelons that have been over the 100 lb. mark.

I will certainly be requesting seed from you for next year. I like what you
are doing by concentrating on growing pumpkins that look like pumpkins.

Best of Luck,

Has anyone tried roasting AG seeds, or is that considered sacrilege
or something?

This pumpkin was safe to harvest. Lineage? Henry Fields. Weight?
68 pounds.

I roasted the seeds ... they taste great (of course, I slathered them
with butter and garlic salt), but BOY are those shells tough. Surely
indigestible.

Are AG seeds normally like this, or have other folks successfully
roasted them?

PS: I promise, if I get a 700+ pounder, I will NOT roast them.
