Say...anybody collect pollen for crossing next year?
I have about 2.5 grams of 1101 Northrup pollen and a gram
or so of 1042 Companion. It's quite a bit considering you don't
need much to pollinate one baby. Just wondered if anybody
bothers to do this or if last year's pollen is even viable.
I am going to try it anyhow just to see if it works.
I will also have seeds for a cross of "1101 Northrup" male to
"1042 Companion" female if anyone is interested. I have two moderate
sized pumpkins still growing with this hand pollinated cross.
One is in the 100lb range and the other in the 75lb range on the same
plant and still growing, though about nearly done.
Original seeds were obtained from Howard Dill so the genetic line is well known.
Regards to all,
Dave Squires
