The same thing happened to us here a couple weeks ago. The spot was a little
larger than a quarter. I immediately scraped the soft brown flesh away
making sure to go farther into the green conductive tissue. While scraping I
sprayed a 5% bleach solution on the knife & damaged area.
Lastly I dusted the area with straight Captan 50W powder.
So far she has stayed dry. We don't have electricity near the patch so I was
relieved that a fan wasn't needed.

Subject: Rotting Stem
A couple of days ago, I noticed the stem of one of my pumpkins had begun to
rot. I scraped away the rotted portion and coated the whole stem in a
sulfur
paste. Perhaps an act of desperation, as fluid is beginning to drip though
the dried paste. Is there anything else I can do, or is her fate sealed?
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
