I saw it here in Delaware. My neighbor called me and told me it was on. Very
good documentary. I tried to get my wife to watch it so she'd see that I'm
not the only pumpkin obsessed person, but she was more interested in one of
those C.S.I. shows.

Who was the guy they showed polishing his pumpkin? I've heard of that being
done. He was doing it very affectionately. I felt a little dirty watching
that scene.

Lord of the Gourd was shown on PBS last night on the west coast.

That's the first time I've seen it.

It was 2006, looked like it was filmed at the end of the season and
culminated at the Cooperstown NY weighoff.

Anyone see this thing? The director is a pretty weird guy.

i think i saw part of it recently, but didn't get to
watch much of it. would love to see it again!

i'm pretty new to the pumpkin obsession, and have only
had very, very modest results so far --- the biggest
pumpkin i've had to date was about 64 lbs.

i've been learning a lot, though ----
my biggest vine is going INSANE with new growth right
now and we're hoping to have some sizeable latecomers
this year.

i'm already dreaming of all the things i'm going to do
NEXT year, starting from scratch, with all the new
info i've learned! :)

It was painful for me to watch.

This was to be my fourth season, and I was generously gifted seeds from
three great growers. Apparently, in my over-zealous aspirations for a new
PB, I goofed up my soil. None of my male flowers produced pollen, and hence
no fruit set.

It's going to be a long post-season.....

Ron

The film is getting rave reviews over on BP.com. Last night was the first
showing. I watched it, and thought it was particularly excellent. It's meant
to be more "funny and entertaining" than informative, (at least when viewed
by
experienced growers). It will be on again on most PBS stations... check your
local listings. It's a "must see".

The directory might be weird, all the
better to make a film about us weird people. ;-)

happy growing, Cliff

Watched it an taped it. Growing a 1000 pound pumpkin is also one of my
goals. I also had many of the same feeling and thoughts of the growers
in the "Lord of the Gourd".
