HA! That's so true, Steve. My pumpkin patch is at the far end of our property, right next to the detached garage (shop)!

That is hilarious Tom! I remember you. I had to buy my wife a plane ticket
to her sister's place in Napa as trade for permission to buy a new tractor. 
She willingly promotes the pumpkin hobby as it keeps me out of her hair.
My theory is....The secret to a long lasting marriage is a DETACHED garage
(shop).

Ironic enough, I was one of the growers that was featured, I was the grower 
that bought his wife a new van in exchange for more patch space...LOL!
PBS followed us for a few days in our patches and then on the way to the
weigh off, it was a riot.

Several years ago I saw a very entertaining and interesting documentary film on PBS TV which followed several giant pumpkin growers through their season 
of
growing giant pumpkins.  That film got me interested in the hobby and this
year I have been able to grow a few large pumpkins in my community garden
plots in Los Angeles. Everyone in my garden is coming around to see the big 
pumpkins (estimated at 150 lbs) and I have been asked to write a few
paragraphs for our newsletter.  I have been trying to remember the name of
the
film.  Perhaps someone on this list would know of the film?
