Hey Marv, I am in Illinois. And you are in CA, right?

Hi Debbie
You can bring your pumpkin loaded anyway you feel safe and comfortable with. We
will take care of unloading at the site with lift truck or one of our pumpkin
lifters. As far as water bottles go I really don't think they are necessary
unless your have a goal in mind and want to perhaps save a pound or so. If I had
a record potential or was trying to get a 1000 pounder I might do it, actually,
I did do it years ago when I was going for my first 700 pounder.
You can leave the vines a long as you want to help save any loss of weight but
they will be trimmed back to one inch before going on the scale.
We charge no registration fee at Altoona.
If you get back to me with your mailing address I will get our pre weighoff
newsletter to you this week. It contains a registration form that you can have
filled out to save you the hassle at the site.
Any other questions, feel free to ask,
Marv
A few of questions from a first-timer to the old-timers for weigh offs. Am I
allowed to leave the pumpkin on the lifting tarp when I bring it to the weigh
off? Also, can I have a piece of foam between tarp and pallet? I have seen
pictures of growers leaving a couple of feet of vine on each side of the stem
and put the ends in bottles of water. Any real need to do this?
Also, how does the unloading and loading happen? What is the registration fee?
I have not been able to find this online.
Debbie
