Around here there are no real worries about frost until early October. I'll
easily beat my last year's
best of 197#, and with continued good luck and good weather I'm hoping for
300#.
You may have heard that my nephew Duncan McAlpine is out of the race. He
had a split several weeks ago
Bill
Very nice Bill.
Keep them sheltered from the rain and sun and it wont split! I have tried
some new techniques this year as far as using trenches for the vines, it
has worked quite well. I also am using a tarp with rebar supports to shade
my pumkin and protect it from the rain.......what a difference that makes!

P.S. - If anyone knows of the lady from BC that is running that pumpkin
competition to raise money for the food bank I would appreciate any
information on how that is going.......I sent over 200 seeds out to her
last year and I am wondering how they are doing. So if any of you can fill
me in then drop me a line. Thanks.
