Jim from Calgary here. This was my first year to try and grow an
Atlantic Giant pumpkin and I failed. I've learned a lot reading the
mail here and will definitely do better next year
My problem was that the pumpkin did not get pollinated. Must be a
shortage of bees this year. The plant was beautiful. One seed planted
directly into the ground on April 30 yielded a 35' X 35' plant. Is that
a large enough plant to grow a 500lb pumpkin?
Anyway, next year I will be doing a lot more things right than I did
this year.
Good luck to all of you at the weigh offs.
