Hi All!!
First of all, I'll give you my progress report - although it's nothing
compared to many of yours. Still, for the first attempt at growing
Atlantic Giants, it's not too shabby!! I did a real rough over the top
measurement, and figure my pumpkin to be around 200 pounds. I gotta be
honest though - I haven't done any of the baby-ing like I'm suppose to.
. .removing other pumpkins and blossoms, fertilizing, etc. The only
thing I've done is watered it during our LO-o-o-ong drought. Gees, I
wonder what I would have gotten had I done all the things I'm suppose to
do. 200 pounds - That is pretty good for a first try, isn't it?
Anyway, I'm wondering if there's anyplace in Western Illinois or Eastern
Iowa that I might be able to enter it into competition? Do you know if
I stand a chance at even making the top 5 or 10?
Okay, now here's my second question. It's mainly directed to those of
you who have pumpkin patches . . .what's the going rate for pumpkins
this year? Wholesale? Retail? Are there any web pages to find this
information on?
I really enjoy being on this list. You're a great group of people. I
wish I could meet some of you in person, but it seems most of you are
quite a distance. Good luck to all of you entering pumpkins.
