OTT tables

The one best table is that prepared by Len Stellpflug from hundreds of fruit
over several years. The circumference only tables are OK to moniter changes
in growth but due to most fruit being a non-average shape the "Over-The-Top"
table is the only route to an accurate estimate.

The table put out by Bob Marcellus gives essentially the same results.

The "1.9" method is correct only for a fruit of about 585 pounds. The
weight/OTT inches ratio progressively changes over the whole range.

Anyone can check this out easily using the OTT tables.

Hope this clarifies the matter for those getting conflicting results.---Al

I guess my confusion is coming from the Stellpflug table in Langevin's book
on page 109. It seems that this table is based on circumference only
measurements. I assume that this is in error or there has since been a
refinement of the table using all three measurements. Please Al just a
little more patience in helping me out.

Ciao, John
