I too have a special knife. It is a budding knife used to bud roses though it is used for other things like cuttings etc. When I was a mere apprentice Gardener in the 60's (remember The Who, The Dave Clark Five and the benchmark of female singers - the one and only Dusty Springfield) this knife was issued to me in the geranium cutting season and I was told to return it "in two weeks time" . That was almost thirty years ago and I still have the very same 'Saynor Budding knife' that has always been in my pocket. (Every good Gardener carries a knife). I think it will be too small to cut the 1000 + pounder that I will grow this season but I will certainly make a ritualistic cut to start the severence and make a "thank you" for the good memories that have been and the good memories still to come (like beating the Americans and the Aussies) he-he ho-ho. Have a 'Parky' day!
