The Binghamton question I can answer.. We have one at the Ridgebury Gun
Club, and it is in Langevins New HTGWCGP II . It is referred to as the
Northern Tier Giant Pumpkin Growers Club weigh-off, under independent
sites. If you have a true monster, you would most likely be headed
towards Altoona, for the GPC , and if you are a WPC person, go to
Clarence NY, just outside of Buffalo (like 15 minutes east of Buffalo).
I live 30 miles west of Binghamton in Sayre PA, 1 mile over the border.
I will be taking my giant squash to the Clarence NY site, prize
difference is the deciding factor in that one. Clarence - $500 , Altoona
- $50.
Of course , in a strange twist of fate, my going to NY will not make me
eligible (from some sources I have contacted) for the Pennsylvania
record for giant squash, whatever that may be. Joe Mills came last year,
to Altoona, and became the king of DC with his weight of 406 in Altoona,
PA. It seems strange to me that a grower can come into Pennsylvania and
grab thier state(or territory - D.C.) record, but Pennsylvania growers
are not allowed to go out and of the commonwealth and be eligible.. Oh
well.. It is just a title.. la de da...
I will have an update to the page, complete with pictures and text
later this evening, so please stop by and check it out.. 150" circ,
86.5" side to side, and 95 inches stem to blossom end tonite as of 6PM,
making that a total OTT of 331.5".. Charts have the "Dark Horse" at 740
with the circ charts, and 719 withthe OTT charts. Lots of cantelouping,
so I am hoping and leaning towards the high estimate of 740.. Who
knows..
