Re: grass clipping heat and fall protection


Hey P. We must be on a similar wavelength or positioned near one another
on the learning curve because I thought of that same idea last time I
took my composts temperature. Therefore, I will ask the same question
again for both of us. 
   1)	Can the heat-generating properties of a compost pile be used to
	keep parts of the pumpkin plant warm?
   2)	If not for the area under the pumpkin shade cover then maybe for 
	keeping the soil temperature from dropping late in the season by 
	using it as a mulch? (Compost can, and should reach interior
	temperatures of over 100 degrees; is this TOO warm? The shallow
	depth of a mulch should decrease this concentration of heat, I
	would guess.)
