PF,
I have found that junior divisions are sometimes as the coordinator
states..........there are alot of well meaning parents that want their
child to succeed....Heres kinda the scenerio it starts out a great parent
child project Dad rototills the plot...little one plants the seed they
waters it the first week together....then the novelty wears off come week
3...parent starts to nag little one to water .....little one really starts
to lose interest...parent ends watering the plant and caring for the plant
most of the season...then right around weigh-off time junior gets
interested again....and wal-la thus your junior division................NOW
this is not true in all cases some parents don't do anything because they
feel thats it is not right to interfere in a kids divisions....unless you
have an exceptional child....they will forget to water now and again and
ignore all the little pruning tricks and end up with a smaller pumpkin than
the parent-child pumpkin........they usually don't place......the higher
the money in the child div...the more parent intervening you
get.........personally i feel the well meaning parent undermines all the
learning responsibilities.....of the game... and say the 11 year old that
does it all himself gets beat by the 4 year-parent........this is a major
frustration.....and whats the message sent to either child........so that
is why (and the number of places soley depends on the number of entrants)
we don't really a have a junior division as all are
consider............................adult /parent-child........and if you
have a large group of pumpkin places as far as 20th 30th 40th would work
great.....and some wildcard place money............two cents worth brock
