Re: Someone else with little cracks
I discovered similar features on both of my young ones but the blemishes
are located on the stem end. I sprayed the area with a fungicide and
patched the open "sore" with grafting sealant. (Probably a terrible
mistake but I come from a bonsai background, not a fruity one.) Does
this mean that instead of growing a good warm-up pumpkin for next
season, I am simply growing pumpkin-specific compost?
Note: Both stopped growing on the respective day that I discovered the
blemishes. Although they were still small (under 40 pounds), they were
gaining between 7-10" OTT each day; both stopped at around 100" OTT.
(Both pollinated 19 days ago, yellow and very spherical.)
I abbreviated my watering schedule and have skipped a fertilization. Is
there anything else that I should be doing? (stamp collecting,
spelunking, sepuku?)
