It may be that the Marshfield people just don't want to have a kids contest
or be bothered with it. You will always get a few jerky parents that grow the
pumpkin and say their kids did it. There is not too much you can do about
dishonest parents. It may be , that this is not for Marshfield. At the Big E
childrens contest, they interview the children to ask them how they grew
it....to discourage the cheating parents. We haven't had much of a problem at
New Milford. The 50th place prize at Topsfield is just a proposal for next
year....but I think it will fly.
