A mid day update from squash memorial hospital in Sayre PA......
A few minutes ago Dr Lyle Rockwell, did an underground exploratory, by
carefully digging around the base of the squash, a.k.a. "Dark Horse",
and found no, I repeat no cancerous infections onthe underside of the
patient. At this time, the team of pumpkinologists that are looking the
specimen over have not found out the answer, but are deep ina caucus in
the backyard, beers inhand, trying to figure out the next step towards
saving our beloved green monster,.,
While the tumor is spreading on its top, and the black secretions
continue to pop up in the now 8 inch area, we have found no cause,
except maybe a possible case of sclerotinia stem rot, as per the first
book by Don Langevin. That is all I cantell you at this time, as we have
had a break in the action, to get some lunch, and wonder about what
course of action to do next./.
I will add, that I remvoed completely the sun hut, as the moist nights
around here, and the 3 day rain stint we had a few days ago may have had
some contributing factor to the squashes almost assuredly demise.. God
be with the Dark Horse through out the rest of the day, as she has been
put into the critical but stable list here..
