Chasing Mice

I was just sitting trying to grow
The best thing that I do you know
Is be the biggest I can be
For Mike my pumpkin patch buddy
I heard a scratch and then a munch
There's something wrong I had a hunch
Just then a chill ran up my stem
Oh tell me what is this mayhem

Cold and clammy mousy feet
They're awfully hungry , I'm the meat !!
With out a choice  just sit I guess
By morning I will  be a mess

Now where is Mike he's sposta be
Back out here watering with me
 I heard his footsteps running by
I wanted to jump up and cry
But I was stuck on this dam vine
Is this the end of me and mine
I'm from a long prestigious line
And I was here just doing fine

Then came this creepy crawly bunch
And they want me to be there lunch
Now Mike slow down and stop that running!
Or this might be my last day sunning
Here in  Broc Farm pumpkin patch
These little beasts he'd better catch
At last he's come, the creatures scurry
Now take a breath think fast now hurry
With peanut butter and a trap
He sat there with them on his lap
And sweat was running off his brow
He'd solve this yet he would some how
He started singing soft and low
What  was his plan I don't know
And though I do not have two ears
It came to me and soothed my fears
Much louder now the song he sang
It even did give me a pang
It sent a shiver right threw me
Right in the spot where ears might be

Yes he was going to win this fight
By singing bad with all his might
The sounds that echoed threw the air
Sounded so bad  I saw a pair
Of mousy buddies shriek and run
They'll eat  no more this patch was won
He didn't have to trap the mice
Just sing his song and sing it twice
Mike stood his watch on guard with  me
Just like he should so you can see
The giant pumpkin meant to be
Set for the fair  October three
