Mike and any other pumpkin growers,
Did you send your varmints up here or what? The sob's hit my patch in
the past 24hrs. the evidence is there around the base of one of my 815's that
is nearing the 700 pound mark. Well I'll tell you what I have done so far and
let me know if you have any other suggestions. I sprayed the raw exposed
flesh that is near the ground with captan solution. then I located a tiny
tunnel under the stem end. I dug out as far as I can reach and it seems there
is a open space up under there.I am hoping that it's just a concave bottom and
not a hole into the pumpkin. Maybe I should keep digging more. but I just
couldn't stand it. In stead of calling 911 and risk being locked up in a
mental ward...I set off a couple gas sticks under the pumpkin. there was smoke
coming out at the base on the sides of the pumpkin so I sealed off all around
it with moist dirt . so now no smoke comes out. and I lit another one.
covered the entrance of the hole with a round river rock . Now I have 4 boxes
o!
f Decon and 8 mouse traps loaded up with the chunky peanut butter. I will set
them out around the pumpkin too. Is there anything else that you know that
works. I want to see dead bodies as soon as possible. Hope they haven't made a
mouse house of my big one!

Put some wax blocks (mice bait) in a little wooden box beside the Pumpkin.
They love the stuff and eat it before eating the Pumpkin.
