I spoke with Mike Green coordinator for the fairgrounds and last years
coordinator for the GPC weigh off. Mike confirms the weigh off is on for
Oct. 17th, there will be $5,000 in cash prizes. How this is to be
distributed for weights has not been decided. According to Mr. Green cash
prize winners will be requested to leave their pumpkins at the fairgrounds.
They will later be moved to the California State Capitol building in
Sacramento where they will be carved on Oct. 31st, then delivered to
Schriners Childrens Hospital. No prize money for squash, watermellon or
other.....Open to California Pumpkin growers only. Mike indicated he would
be sending out invitations & regs shortly? You can contact the Dixon Mayfair
