Pumpkin contest protocol
A question as it relates to GPC sanctioned weighoffs....."Pumpkin Widow" is a
term,as I understand it,describing the wife (or significant other to be
pollitically correct) of a giant pumpkin grower.She cuts the lawn now,washes
the cars(I wish),etc that the pumpkin grower should be doing while he's in
the patch trying to grow a world record pumpkin.She takes off the covers when
the sun comes out,puts on the blankets when he has to work late,and turns off
the water when its time.She is a constant weather monitor,squirrel chaser,and
pumpkin patch kid monitor.Since she(or he-to be pollitically correct) had as
much to do with the success of the pumpkin growers efforts as the pumpkin
grower himself,I have heard that it is acceptable to enter a pumpkin in her
name. Is this acceptable or true? How is it looked upon by the veteran
growers or mainstream growers on this list?My wife has claimed my Rockwell as
hers,and I'm losing the battle!..........Glenn A.
