I don't know, I hear they are hard to "repel". One sure-fire repellent for
any warm blooded mammal though is to set up speakers near the invaded area
and play in continuous rotation, anything by "N'Sync". It really works. This
also will have any would-be vandals running for the hills, screaming like
tortured monkeys.
Seriously, you could also try pepper dust (sold near birdseed in most pet
stores) and dust this over the areas that the bear goes near. One lick or
sniff, and it will probably be pretty irritating. Everytime I sniff or lick
it, it feels like my freaking face is on fire for hours. I was taken to the
hospital 5 times because of this, until the doctor finally told me how to
prevent it from happening. He said to "stop sniffing and licking it". And you
know what, it worked! He is really smart.
