Rocky, I posted a LONG note (actually several) about what I thought about
splitting over the last few months. One suggestion I had was about diluting
the fertilizer in ALL of the irrigation water, so instead of one Tablespoon
per gallon for 10 sq. feet, it would be diluted in all of the irrigation
water to soak the same area an inch a week, about 6 gallons, so the dilution
would be a half teaspoon per gallon. The area would get the same amount of
fertilizer, but it would be diluted throughout all of the water evenly,
therfore excess would leach out, instead of staying in the top layers of soil
all of the time. When it rains, stronger fertilizer could be used, depending
on how much rain.
