Oregon Update
Quietly, Silently, Whispering with wood under my knuckles I write this quick
Oregon Update. Weather here has been good the past few weeks. Pumpkins live
despite the damage from the storm in August. Squash are also alive although
just barely. The 400 pound barrier has been broken 3 times so far and one
more over 500, with a #454 (Oregon Sate Fair Champion), #474.5 (Squash,
Puyallup Fair Champion), #486 (Clackamas County Fair Champion), and a #517.5
(3rd at the Puyallup Fair Weighoff). Here are the players left in the
patch.....
#900.8 Lyons, two squash remain, both look to be over 250 pounds.
#469 Hester, One fruit remains, looks over 250 lbs.
#737 Stellpflug, one squash remains, 250+.
#801.5 Stelts, One fruit remains, 250+.
#720 Hester, One fruit remains, 250+.
#879 Holland, One fruit remains, 250+.
#946.5 Geerts, One fruit remains, 250+.
#697 Ciliberto, 5 fruit remain, 250+.
#935 Lloyd, 2 fruit remain, 250+.
The experimental patch houses 30 fruit over 250 pounds on the chart.
Obviously this is far from a detailed weight estimate, but to not jinx what
is left I reduced the cut off for exceptional fruit down to 250 pounds insted
of 900 pounds.
Take Care,
The Pumpkinguru
