Mixing up a new batch of potting 'soil'

I've had really poor results with spent mushroom compost
and I can not recommend its use. Far better to use properly
composted pine bark. Here in South Africa we have an
excellent product available [produced by Kynoch Soil
Services] and I now use nothing else. Composted pine bark,
at least the local product, is highly deficient in phosphorus
and fertilizer needs to be incorporated into the medium.
Osmocote Mini has provided me with good results at a
concentration of 2.0 - 2.5 kg / cubic metre composted
pine bark. Also use MicroMax [or equivalent trace element
mixture] at a rate of 1 kg / cubic metre CPB.

Remember that sawdust immobilizes Nitrogen.

Hope this helps. Best wishes to all.
