This tree is quite fast growing in the New York City area. (US zone 7)
I have only seen them grown by accident. I have not seen one at any local
botanical garden.
A friend had one pop out of his flower bed one day...two weeks later it was
three feet tall!
After a season he pulled the thing out 'cause it was likely to take over the
front of the house.
In general...trees which grow like weeds, growing several feet in the first
growing year, are not good candidates for ornamental growing. They have soft
wood and die off in a few years after producing a vast seed crop...then you
have to dispose of the remains
