Hello! I begin fertilizing when I see that the little plants are developing
their second set of leaves--"true" leaves. (The first set of leaves are
cotyledons, also called "seed" leaves.) Seedlings use the food stored in
their cotyledons up until that point.
Note that *peas* leave their cotyledons underground, so the first set of
leaves visible to you are the true leaves.
I fertilize once or twice a week using 1/2 strength dilution of fish and
kelp emulsion. I apply the fertilizer in the morning and after I have
watered the seedlings with plain water. The water I use has been sitting in
large plastic jugs in the greenhouse (to warm it and to allow the chlorine
to evaporate).
Have fun with your garden!
