I've rooted Bay Laurel from tip cuttings, using No.3 rooting Hormone
powder (the one for woody plants) and sticking them in vermiculite. They
take about a month to form callus tissue and root, so you need to mist them
often until the roots form to take up water. Try enclosing the cutting in a
plastic tent, and keep it out of direct sunlight. In the nursery trade,
propagators often avoid taking cuttings from suckers, as they are
considered overly vigorous and not true to form - but I think they may
prove easier to root than regular cuttings taken from new growth.
Good Luck!
Bernadette
