If you are not careful, soil will catch on fire in the micro. Something
happens and even when all the water has been evaporated, the
temperature continues to rise, until the soil starts glowing.

Be extremely careful if you plan on microwaving soil. You must make sure
that it is not too dry. Microwaving works by energizing water molecules.
If there is not enough water present, you will end up seriously damaging
your microwave unit. If you check the instruction book, they will caution
you never to run the unit when empty. What they mean here is not to run it
without some water-containing substance (usually food ) in it.
